Great Places to Visit in Salt Lake City, Utah

mormon templeThe Salt Lake City offers cool attractions and one doesn’t have to be a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints so as to enjoy the different attractions the city has to offer. Even in winter, the scenic attractions are a sight to behold with the snowcapped mountains that enclose the city. The best skiing in the world can actually be enjoyed in the mountains that are near Salt Lake City. Here are some great places to visit in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pioneer Museum

The pioneer museum is managed by the daughter of the Utah pioneers. There are so many things to see that are connected to pioneer artifacts. You will see everything from old horse drawn wagons to real shoes that were worn by Brigham Young (the prophet of the Mormon Church and the second president).
Visiting the museum is free, but if you would like to make donations, they will accept. The best thing is that they are not too pushy about getting donations. There are a lot of things in the museum to be seen and you cannot take it on one visit. Good thing is that it’s a place you may want o return to because there are no fees charged and there are lots of interesting things to see.

Mormon Temple

This breathtaking building took more than 40 years to get completely finished. Though you are not likely to go inside the building for a tour, you will be able to see what it looks like inside with the cut out model that’s at the visitor’s center in the temple square.

After the Mormons were forced to leave Nauvoo and move out West they started constructing this temple. The Salt Lake Temple is the 4th complete temple after the Mormon pioneers moved from west.

This temple is the pinnacle of any temple square visit. A lot of temple weddings take place there and you will likely see a number of couples who are preparing to get married and “sealed for time and all eternity” in the temple. When Mormom families get out of the temple after a marriage, they will often have a photographer to capture nice photographs.

Church Office Building

This is a 28 storey building which is a property of the Mormon Church. It serves as office buildings for the church. Visitors are often encouraged to take a tour of the church building as they will get a chance to get to the observation decks that are located almost at the top of the building. This is probably one of the best views you will get of the Salt Lake Valley so be sure to bring your camera with you. The tour guides are extremely friendly people and will be happy to help you.

Energy Solutions Arena

There are a number of different events that are played at the Energy Solutions Arena. However, its best known for Utah jazz. The Utah jazz is a highly accomplished football team in the national basketball league. Apart from the Utah jazz, you will also get other different events such as musical concerts.
